GSK sought to provide office facilities for the company’s marketing group, while at the same time creating a signature building on a prominent site in the Research Triangle Park. This major addition was designed to screen the existing building and to relate to the nearby main building designed by Paul Rudolph. The facility includes offices for marketing administration, marketing financial services, and communication services. An associated new parking garage provides space for approximately 280 cars.
The award-winning design separates the addition from the existing building but utilizes pedestrian bridge connectors at the upper level. The scope included renovations in the existing building which encompassed a cafeteria expansion and the addition of training, fitness and health facilities.
