In 2008, Wake Technical Community College purchased and rezoned a 93.91 acre piece of property in western Wake County with the purpose of creating a new campus specifically designed to be near the Research Triangle Park (RTP). This proximity is important as it will allow Wake Tech to partner with the region’s numerous high technology and life sciences companies.

The O’Brien Atkins’ team developed a master plan which:

-Provides a long range vision of the campus build-out

-Directs a phased implementation approach

-Creates a stimulating campus environment for learning

-Creates a sustainable campus

-Creates campus image that captures the high tech context
