Headquartered in Germany, Raumedic manufactures polymer components that are used in the medical and pharmaceutical industries including high-tech catheters, drug delivery systems and moulded parts for surgical devices. This is Raumedic’s first US manufacturing location and serves as its US headquarters.
This design-build team led by THS Constructors, delivered a new 70,000 sf facility, with O’Brien Atkins serving as Mechanical and Electrical Engineers of Record.
One 10,000 sf ISO Class 7 cleanroom houses 12 injection molding machines and another 8,000 sf ISO Class 7 cleanroom houses five extrusion machines. The building also includes lockers and cleanroom gowning rooms, personnel and material airlocks, raw material and finished goods controlled storage, tool rooms, shop, warehouse and administration offices. The design included two custom cleanroom air handling units and terminal HEPA filtration.
The electrical system includes a 4000A service with infrastructure designed and installed for a future, second 4000A service. All clean room labs are equipped with Class 1000 cleanroom lights. Cleanroom devices are complete wash-down type and all exposed electrical hardware within clean manufacturing spaces is stainless steel. All electrical installations were designed, specified, and installed consistent with the clean-room classification of each individual area.
