Cisco Campus Master Plan + Update

O’Brien Atkins began working with Cisco, a San Jose, CA, based technology company, in 1994 on the development of its east coast campus in Research Triangle Park, NC.  Initially, Cisco’s strategy for its first few buildings was based on the ability to exit, if necessary.  As its confidence in its east coast market share grew, Cisco became committed to a long-term stay, which impacted the design strategy resulting in the placement of buildings clustered in a mini-campus center of 600,000 sf.  To provide formal guidelines and a comprehensive site understanding of the 750-acre site, O’Brien Atkins was commissioned to develop a Campus Master Plan.

As a consequence of Cisco’s rapid growth, O’Brien Atkins and Cisco team members developed a Campus Master Plan for full buildout at 22 office/R&D facilities, of which 15 buildings, or 2.25 million sf, have been constructed to date.
