In 2004, the City of Raleigh and Wake County jointly conducted an extensive design team selection process for the proposed new Raleigh Convention Center. The local architectural team of O'Brien/Atkins Associates, Architect of Record, and Clearscapes, was selected, with a subsequent selection of TVS as convention center design architect. The design and construction documents for the new, 500,000 sf Convention Center are scheduled to be complete in 2006. Early construction bid packages have been issued and construction has started.
